Theatre and Media Technician

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our experienced team as a Theatre & Media Technician. The dept has been teaching performing arts for over 30 years and has a history of producing professional performers and amazing theatrical productions with professional levels of production. This role predominately involves carrying out all duties associated with the support of a busy Performing arts department and then some support work for the media course. This will involve get in’s, fitting up, set building, lighting, sound and running events taking place in Melton Theatre and assisting in events in other spaces and locations. Maintaining equipment for both Performing arts & media. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in a similar position in a receiving or producing theatre environment or educational establishment, have excellent attention to detail, with an ability to adapt to new situations in our busy department Strong skills in theatre lighting and desk programming, sound installation and operation including the use of digital consoles, audio visual, theatrical staging or counter weight and point hoist flying are advantageous. You will require knowledge of a range of lighting systems, and knowledge of Stage Management would be an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate a working knowledge of all areas of technical theatre. A working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation is also essential. The successful candidate will have experience of providing support for technical operations on theatrical productions and for routine maintenance. You will be required to provide all aspects of technical support with shows, maintenance, storage and setting up of technical equipment. We are looking for a Lecturer in Construction and the Built Environment with the ability to deliver across the full range of the department's provision. You may currently be working in a Construction setting looking for your first job in teaching. You will have a passion for innovation, bringing new ideas and embedding new technologies into the learning environment. Working as part of the Construction team you will be responsible for the delivery and development of courses. Workshop Supervisor - Engineering
