eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.
eduroam allows students, researchers and staff from participating institutions to obtain Internet connectivity across campus and when visiting other participating institutions by simply opening their laptop, smartphone or other portable device.
Step 1: Connect to the wireless network with SSID “eduroam”.
Step 2: Enter your college email address (e.g. username@smbgroup.ac.uk) and password.
Step 3: Accept the certificate if prompted and ‘Trust’ the network when prompted.
Step 4: You are now connected!

Step 1: Select ‘eduroam’ from the list of available wireless networks.
Step 2: Enter your college email in identity e.g. username@smbgroup.ac.uk
Step 3: Under ‘EAP method’ check PEAP is selected.
Step 4: Change Certificate to "Do not validate". If this is not available select "Use system certificates"
Step 5: Select Advanced settings and check authentication type is ‘MSCHAPv2’
Step 6: If asked for a domain, type "smbgroup.ac.uk"
Step 7: Enter your password
Step 8: Click/Tap 'Connect'. You are now connected!

Step 1: Click on the Wi-Fi signal icon on the desktop bar
Step 2: Select "eduroam" from the list of available networks.
Step 3: Set the settings to:
Step 4: Under ‘EAP method’ check PEAP is selected.
Step 5: Under Phase 2 authentication choose ‘MSCHAPv2’.
Step 6: The Server CA certificate needs changing to 'Do Not Check' instead of 'Default'.
Step 7: User Certificate to 'None Installed' (if available).
Step 8: Enter your college email in identity e.g. username@smbgroup.ac.uk.
Step 9: Enter your password.
Step 10: Tick/Check the Save Identity and password.
Step 1: Connect to the wireless network with SSID “eduroam”.
Step 2: Enter your college email address and Password.
Step 3: Accept the certificate if prompted and ‘Trust’ the network when prompted.
Step 4: You are now connected!
The Eduroam service is coordinated within United Kingdom by Janet and across Europe by a team from the GÉANT project, which is funded by the European Commission.
